Listennn to Igorrr’s “ieuD”
So a couple of weeks ago, I was hanging out with Frank from Metal Injection, and he was like “Lemme put on some music,” and he started playing the most delightfully fucking bugnuts metal/electronica hybrid I’ve heard in ages. “What the heck is this?” I asked.
Turns out it was Igorrr, a French project masterminded by one Gautier Serre, and Metal Injection has actually been singing his praises for years. It’s hard to describe Igorrr’s music, but it’s easy to understand why Frank is so infatuated with the dude: his work is truly singular.
If you, like me, have been ignorant of the magic that is Igorrr up ’til now, this is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with him: Metal Blade has announced a June 16 release date for Savage Sinusoid, Igorrr’s first album for the label. It’s taken Igorrr years to complete the insanely ambitious record, which was created free of samples (in other words, all the instruments you hear are 100% real). But all that labor was totally worth it. Savage Sinusoid is destined to be one of the most unclassifiable, mind-bending albums of the year in any genre.
Don’t believe me? Why, just check out the record’s first single, “ieuD,” via the below video (which is gorgeous in its own right). It’s got a harpsichord and blastbeats and an opera singer and all other types of crazy shit that will give you some sense of the insane ride Savage Sinusoid offers.
Once you’ve listened to the song ten or twelve times and fallen completely in love with it, pre-order Savage Sinusoid here. You will not regret it.
