Metal Blade Records Founder Brian Slagel is Writing a Memoir
Buried in a Billboard article announcing BMG’s foray into book publishing — their first release will be a retrospective about ’60s Brit rock band The Zombies — was this metal tidbit: Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel is working on a memoir.
And that’s about all we know for now. Slagel himself posted the following on Instagram:
“So @billboard mentioned the upcoming history of @metalbladerecords book today! Super excited for you guys all to read it. More info soon! #metalbladerecords”
Slagel founded Metal Blade in 1982, famously discovered both Metallica and Slayer, and the label has been home to hundreds of bands over the past three-plus decades that have become metal household names. We named Slagel the #3 Most Important Person in Metal Today last year, and we spoke with him on The MetalSucks Podcast last July (embedded below); to say the guy’s got stories upon stories would be an understatement. His memoir will be essential reading for anyone calling themselves a metalhead.
More as we learn it.
