DC Comics Announces Metal Justice League Event, to Be Drawn by Disturbed Cover Artist Greg Capullo
Very exciting news for those of you who, like me, are massive metalheads and Batman dorks: Scott Snyder, who has been one of the lead writers on the Batman comic franchise since 2011, has announced a “Full Justice League, DCU event,” DC Metal. The event will be drawn by Greg Capullo (Spawn), who drew Snyder’s Batbooks for five years. Here’s a sample:
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Hey, dummy, just because the word ‘metal’ is in the title doesn’t mean the story has anything to do with metal, or will even be metal.” Which is fair. Except I really, truly believe this story will somehow involve heavy metal, for these reasons:
- Capullo is a known metalhead who has done album covers for Disturbed and is rarely seen without a Black Label Society baseball cap.
- Sndyer’s announcement on Instagram included the phrase “let’s rock out” and the devil horns emoji.
- Last year’s All-Star Batman issues number three and four, written by Snyder, included the revelation that Batman’s latest sidekick, Duke “Lark” Thomas, is a metalhead. His favorite band is called ‘Batman’s @^$&@,’ and at one point, their music is used as a weapon:
So, yeah. I think this shit will be metal as fuck.
DC Metal starts this summer. More details as we get ’em.
