Fates Warning Announce U.S. Tour Dates
I’ve never really thought about this before, but the name ‘Fates Warning’ makes no goddamn sense. There’s no apostrophe, so the moniker means ‘The Warning of Multiple Fates.’ But that suggests that there could be also be multiple fates which do not require a warning. Which is much less ominous than ‘Fate’s Warning,’ which suggests that you’re being warned of something inescapable. The apostrophe makes all the difference between “If you jump off a bridge you will die, but if you don’t jump off the bridge you should be fine for now” and “Just a heads up, you are going to die and there is nothing you can do about it.” The latter message is the far more metal of the two, isn’t it?
