Exclusive Track Premiere: Valborg’s “Beerdigungsmaschine”
Those of you who don’t speak German may be interested to know that the title of Valborg‘s new song, “Beerdigungsmaschine,” means “Burial Machine.” And in case you’re wondering why it’s called that, well, allow guitarist/vocalist Christian Kolf to explain:
“‘Beerdigungsmaschine’ was written just for fun, because I wanted to check out my new whammy pedal. The title passed through my mind after the burial of my grandfather. The ceremony was anything but an eulogy of a fulfilled life. It felt like reeling off a schedule. No good stories, just classic catholic fear. The priest was doing a very bad job. It sucked.”
If you’re thinking, “Man, I bet the horrible funeral of a family member could inspire some really bleak, heavy shit”… you’re right! “Beerdigungsmaschine” is a weighty, wrathful, militaristic march of a song that will make your teeth shake. Valborg sound like Godflesh and Triptykon fucked while Gojira watched — in fact, Tom G. Warrior himself has called Valborg “abundantly original and unique” and “a mixture of Bohren und der Club of Gore, early Black Sabbath and Hellhammer.” You’re gonna love it!
MetalSucks is proud to debut “Beerdigungsmaschine,” which you can check out below. The song comes off of Valborg’s new album, Endstrand, which drops April 7 on Lupus Lounge/Prophecy Productions. Pre-order it here!
