Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse, ex-Deicide) Reunites with Chris Barnes in Six Feet Under
This is probably as close to a Chris Barnes-era Cannibal Corpse reunion as you’re ever gonna get: Jack Owen, one of that band’s guitarists for the entirety of Barnes’ tenure, has now joined Six Feet Under.
Comments Barnes:
“As you all know, Jack and I started off together helping form one of the greatest Death Metal bands of all time. Jack and I began talking a few months ago, after his departure from his previous band about joining forces.
“From my side of things, it’s going to be amazing to work with Jack again!! We had some intense adventures, to say the least hahaha…and it’s gonna be killer to step on stage with Jack for the first time in over 22 years!!
“Jack will be joining SFU for the entire cycle of touring for the new album and beyond!”
Barnes promises that the first live dates with Owen will be announced shortly.
Owen, as you’re probably aware, left Cannibal Corpse in 2004, joined Deicide in 2006, and then split from that band last year. I wonder if he ever tried to land the second guitarist spot in Morbid Angel?
Kidding aside, I sincerely believe this is good news: Owen did a healthy share of the songwriting during Barnes’ time in the band. If these two can get together and make another The Bleeding, I bet everyone would stop busting Barnes’ balls for at least a couple of months.
For better or worse, Six Feet Under just released a new album, Torment, on Metal Blade last week (get it here)… so it’s gonna be a minute before Owen is able to contribute anything in terms of songwriting. But we’ll let you know when those live dates are announced.
