Jared Dines Wrote a Pop Song and it’s Probably Not the Worst Thing You’ll Hear Today

We’ve covered Jared Dines’ YouTube content quite a few times here on MS, and with good reason: he’s a funny and talented dude. So, when I stumbled across a video he released earlier today titled “metal musicians write a pop song” I kept my skepticism to a minimum and gave the video the ol’ click-a-roo. And I’m sure glad I did, because this one turned out to be hilarious and well-written.

Jared and his friend Vince managed to churn out a decent pop tune with catchy hooks, smooth vocals, and sound structure. It’s definitely more complicated than most modern pop these days, and I think that’s why it’s so successful. It progresses through more than four chords, features slick leads, and manages to do all this while remaining infectious.
