Times of Grace (Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach + Adam D.) Working on New Material
Times of Grace, the collaboration between Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam D. and then-former KsE vocalist Jesse Leach — released their very good debut album The Hymn of a Broken Man in 2011. It was quite Killswitch-y sounding, which at the time was a novelty since Leach had yet to re-engage the killswitch; it was a solid record on its own, sure, but there’s no denying that a lot of folks were drawn to it simply because it reunited Adam D. and Leach.
Six years later Times of Grace are working on new material and, with five years and two albums of actual KsE collaboration in the bag, they’re promising album number two is going to be a completely different beast.
Here’s Leach on the effort via Instagram, which he’d sworn off in early January but doesn’t seem to be doing the best job resisting:
“Listening to new “Times of Grace” demos like ????!!! . This is on some whole other level. This stuff is quite different than the first record! I got a whole lot of writing to do! Adam has been busy… it begins, again… #TimesOfGrace #NextLevel #PutInWork #Damn #Epic #JesseLeach #WritersLife #Wow #IGotALotOfWorkToDo”
So that’s exciting, yeah? The first Times of Grace record was good, but I always like it best when side projects sound nothing like their members’ day job bands. A perfect example: Serpentine Dominion, the death metal band Adam D. formed with Corpsegrinder from Cannibal Corpse and ex-The Black Dahlia Murder drummer Shannon Lucas, who released an absolutely killer album last year that sounded very little like KsE.
We’ll see what ToG album number two has in store and we will, of course, keep you posted on any developments.
