The Voynich Code + The Mountain Man: Deathcore That’s Better Than Thy Art is Murder
There’s been a lot of talk about Thy Art is Murder lately, and, unfortunately, not enough of it has been “Thy Art is Murder broke up.” I don’t know why so many of you people like that band and feel the need to jump to their aid everytime someone says “boo.” Do you own stock in The North Face or something? Can you not locate a toddler to bang some pots and pans together for your amusement?
Y’know what, don’t tell me, I don’t really care. Just do me a solid and check out these bands, who might conceivably tour with Thy Art is Murder, but are superior in every way:
The Voynich Code, from Portugal, have the code to your voynich. And by “voynich,” I mean “techy deathcore that will knock you flat on your ass.” The band has just signed with Primordial Records, who will release their debut full-length later this year. You can familiarize yourself with them now, though, by checking out their new video for “I, The Weak” below (via Metal Hammer):
Meanwhile, Vancouver’s self-proclaimed “rugged outdoors-metallers,” The Mountain Man, make syrupcore: it’s thick and it’s sweet. Mmmm. There isn’t as much doodily-doo as there is with The Voynich Code, but there is a ton of getting your skull bashed in by an angry gorilla, so that’s nice. Check out their album Bloodlust below, and then get it here if you dig it (spoiler alert: you will dig it).
