Stream the New Witherfall Album Nocturnes & Requiems in Its Entirety

When we premiered a track by the new LA outfit Witherfall last month, we compared them to Opeth, Dream Theater, Iced Earth and Nevermore, esteemed company to be sure, and lauded their “superb chops, a keen sense for melody, an excellent grasp on songwriting.”

We still back those comparisons. But listening to the full album from which that track came — Nocturnes & Requiems, which comes out today — it’s evident the band has a whole lot more going for them than a simple “for fans of” sticker or lousy blogger commentary could ever communicate. Witherfall sound like Witherfall, end of story. If this band can keep it together through the course of several albums — and there’s no reason to think they can’t, other than the usual difficulties of the musician lifestyle — and if they’re able to score opening slots on a few good tours, there’s no telling what they’ll be able to accomplish in the world of metal.
