Next GWAR B-Q Won’t Take Place ‘Til 2018
Good news/bad news time!
Bad news: for the first time since its inception in 2010, GWAR B-Q is taking a year off. So if you were looking forward to going to Hadad’s Lake in August to get shitfaced and literally hang from the rafters while a bunch of awesome bands play, well… you will have to hire the bands yourself. Nothing is really stopping you from doing the other stuff.
Okay, now for the good news: the postponement is because the band is hard at work on their next album. Not only will that record be their first since 2013’s Battle Maximus, but it will be the first since the death of their beloved frontman, Dave Brockie, a.k.a. “Oderus Urungus,” in 2014. So news of a fresh album might seem bittersweet, but I choose to concentrate on the sweet: good for GWAR for keepin’ on keepin’ on.
While we wait for more news on the new release, the band have some live dates lined up, with more to be announced soon:
4/13: Reading, PA @ Reverb
4/14: Columbus, OH @ Newport Music Hall
4/15: Detroit, MI @ Berserker Fest VI @ Crofoot Ballroom
