Exclusive Video Interview: Soen’s Marcus Jidell and Lars Åhlund Discuss the Band’s Evolution and Production

Tomorrow, February 3, prog-metal heavyweights Soen will release their righteous third album, Lykaia, on UDR Music! The record is already receiving rave reviews, as it should — this thing rocks.

Given that MetalSucks have been Soen fans since their inception, and the fact that Lykaia is so goddamn good, we naturally jumped at the chance to premiere a series of in-studio video interviews with the band.

Previously, former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez discussed following his personal vision and the conflict between art and commerce, while vocalist Joel Ekelöf talked about songwriting and the abuse of modern technologies like live back tracks and Axe FX. For our final interviews today, guitarist/producer Marcus Jidell chats about the production on Lykaia, while keyboardist Lars Åhlund  discusses the studio environment in which they recorded in Stockholm and recording the organ and Rhodes keyboard in analog.
