Original Post:
Yes, it’s true — MetalSucks officially launched on December 26, 2006. For the cheap seats: that means we are now in our tenth year of sucking (hard). Believe us… if you think you’re shocked we made it this long, imagine how we feel. MetalSucks has done things and taken us places we never dreamed of in our wildest, “November Rain” video-sized fantasies. Virtually all of our childhood heroes have by now threatened to sue us or physically harm us. Just thinking about it inspires fits of Beavis and Butt-Head-like chuckles.
Not to pat ourselves on the back, but: this calls for a rager.
And a rager there shall be. On Thursday, February 9, we’re throwing The MetalSucks 10th Anniversary Bash at our home away from home, Brooklyn’s infamous Saint Vitus. Performing will be So Hideous, Tiger Flowers, Meek is Murder, and Black Table. We wanted these bands to play because we love their music, their careers have very much run parallel to our own, and we wanted to support our local scene. Because, at the risk of sounding corny, the best part of doing MetalSucks all these years has without question been when someone messages us or comes up to us at a show and tells us they got into a band because we covered them. We love being matchmakers.
And because we’re also pussy pinko libtards, we’re taking a reader’s suggestion and donating all proceeds from the show to the ACLU.
Tickets are on sale right now, and they’re only ten bucks! Please come out, see some amazing bands, help us celebrate our decade of decadence, and aid a great cause. If President Trump doesn’t have to send FEMA to Greenpoint when it’s over, then we did it wrong!
