Listen: Six Feet Under Explore Homicide on “Exploratory Homicide”
Was “Sacrificial Kill,” the lead single from Six Feet Under’s forthcoming Torment, too slow n’ burly to be your cup of cyanide? Then you may prefer the album’s second single, “Exploratory Homicide,” which the band has released via a playthrough video featuring guitarist/bassist Jeff Hughell. It’s much faster and moshier than “Sacrificial Kill.”
It’s also a thinker: what the heck is exploratory homicide? It is homicide for the sake of exploration (e.g., of the human anatomy), or is homicide for the sake of testing the waters re: whether or not you want to commit additional homicides? I tried to listen to Chris Barnes’ lyrics as a means of clarification, but all I could make out was “All the ravers hate Tom Wopat/ So they make their senses hot,” which I’m pretty sure is not what Barnes is actually saying. Oh well.
