Video: Motionless in White Cover System of a Down’s “Chop Suey!”

One of the worst things about getting older is seeing a new generation of artists you feel are sub-par cover your favorite songs from your youth. Watching this video of Motionless in White do a rendition of System of a Down’s “Chop Suey!”, I was reminded of the disgusted look on my father’s face when he heard me listening to the Guns N’ Roses version of “Sympathy for the Devil.” It’s not even that this is a terrible cover, so much as it just seems like a pointless one the brings nothing new to the table. Even frontman Chris Motionless (né Christopher N. Ert) is bad in a boring way: he’s not a good singer, sure, but he ain’t no Phil Labonte, neither. Snooze.

But hey have fun with this if it’s your thing. It’s still better than a Motionless in White song. Maybe MiW will take another cue from SOAD and not release an album for ten years.
