Fan Calls Out Slipknot for Hypocritical Stance on Cell Phones; Corey Taylor Handles it Like a Mensch
Slipknot have released a live performance video of them performing their hit “Before I Forget” in Colorado last summer. But not just any live performance video: this one is constructed entirely from cell phone footage captured by fans.
Pretty neat idea, right?
Except…
Just this past July, vocalist Corey Taylor made it pretty clear he’s staunchly against the use of phones during live performances.

Obviously, this new “Before I Forget” video wouldn’t be possible if Taylor was able to smack all the fans’ phones out of their hands, presenting something of a moral quandary. Or, as one fan elegantly put it:

To which Taylor responded:
Hahahaha FUCK, you make a damn good point.
Yeah, I'm an asshole… https://t.co/uAA1I6oTOF— fuck your checkmark (@CoreyTaylorRock) January 6, 2017
Which is a terrific answer… although it doesn’t really answer the question “Can I use my phone or not?” I guess that will just have to remain one of life’s great mysteries, like “What does it all mean?” and “How do they get those tiny ships into glass bottles?” and “Why does anyone willingly listen to Thy Art is Murder?”. Some things are not for us mere mortals to know.
