David Vincent and Tim Yeung Launch Morbid Angel Cover Band
Did anyone see the Illud Divinum Insanus version of Morbid Angel and think, “Hm, this is nice, but I wish Trey Azagthoth wasn’t here?” I can’t for the life of me imagine that such a person exists… but that fan is really real, that fan will be pleased by this news:
David Vincent and Tim Yeung have launched a new project, I Am Morbid. The band take their name from an Illud Divinum Insanus track, but will (wisely) focus on playing material from the Vincent-era albums people actually like: Altars Of Madness, Blessed Are The Sick, Covenant, and Domination.
Yeung, in case you’re unaware, did not appear on any of those albums.
So, this is basically like if Marty Friedman went on the road to perform tracks from Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction with Shawn Drover on drums.
…
I can’t figure out who this is for. Fans who really, really love David Vincent? People who have absolutely nothing better to do that night? Schmucks who lost a bet to a friend? The mind boggles.
I Am Morbid have two shows scheduled right now: March 24 in Belo Horizonte and March 25 in São Paulo. More should be announced shortly.
