Code Orange: “We Don’t Want to be Touring with These Bargain Bin Fucking Deathcore Bands”
Update, 12:55 pm.: Morgan has clarified the band’s stance via the below tweet.

Metal Insider’s Bram Teitelman, who conducted the interview, has also weighed in.
Here’s a fun quote from Metal Insider‘s new interview Code Orange drummer/vocalist Jami Morgan:
“We got to tour with Killswitch Engage, but we don’t feel like, even if they are big, we don’t want to be touring with these bargain bin fucking deathcore bands. You know what I mean? There is nothing in the future for it. It is a quick buck. We are not looking for a quick buck. We are not here for a quick buck. We are here for the long haul.”
I don’t think Morgan meant to imply that Killswitch Engage are a “bargain bin fucking deathcore band” — they’ve been in the game now for nearly seventeen years, so, if anything, they’re a top-shelf fucking deathcore band, and, really, they’re a top-shelf fucking metalcore band. My guess is Morgan meant to take aim more at bands like, say, Asking Alexandria, about whom Code Orange have previously expressed misgivings:
Asking Alexandria aren’t really deathcore, either, though, so maybe Morgan just mean “deathcore” as a catch-all for “shitty scene bands.” Regardless, as long as Thy Art is Murder and/or Emmure aren’t part of the bill, I think we’ll happily go see Code Orange perform.
You can read the entire interview here. Code Orange’s Roadrunner debut, Forever, comes out January 13. That same day, the band kicks off a tour with a variety of bands, none of whom are deathcore or bargain bin, IMO. Get dates here.
