Rage Against the Machine’s Tim Commerford on Donald Trump: “He’s Fucking Adolf Hitler”

Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine/Wakrat fame is the latest prominent metal musician to weigh in on last week’s election. And, unsurprisingly, he, too, is unhappy about the results.

From a new editorial Commerford has written for Team Rock:

“I hear so many people right now, like ‘Oh, you know, he’s going to change the country’, and blah blah blah, and all this bullshit. But the fact of the matter is the reason people voted for him is the 18% decrease in taxes. That’s it, that’s what it’s all about – it’s all about money. People want more money, and that’s the reason why things like this happen. That’s why it went down this way, and that’s why we have a very scary situation here. I was saying this when they were running – and I’ve heard other people say it too – that he’s like Adolf Hitler. He is Adolf Hitler. He’s fucking Adolf Hitler. And He. Is. Scary. All of us should be really scared, and all of us should be prepared for the worst.”

Although I think it’s still premature to liken Trump to Hitler, the President-Elect is certainly well on his way to earning the comparison. Certainly, the manner in which Trump exploited the fears of the working class were quite Hitler-esque. One of the few facts to give me comfort this past week has been that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote; hopefully, that means that if Trump does decide to try and make good on all his bigoted promises, enough American citizens will stand up to stop him (as opposed to Nazi Germany, where most of the population was like, “Right this way to the trains, Jewish neighbors”).
