Enslaved’s Ivar Bjørnson Ranks the Band’s Discography from Worst to Best
Noisey has gotten Enslaved guitarist Ivar Bjørnson to rank the band’s entire discography. You can read all of Mr. Bjørnson’s explanations for his chocies here, but below is the list without those explanations:
- In Times (2015)
- Below the Lights (2003)
- Isa (2004)
- Axioma Ethica Odini (2010)
- Vertebrae (2008)
- Riitiir (2012)
- Ruun (2006)
- Eld (1997)
- Frost (1994)
- Vikingligr Veld (1994)
- Monumension (2001)
- Mardraum – Beyond The Within (2000)
- Blodhemn (1998)
Interesting! I probably would have put Isa at number one and moved Ruun up the ladder and pushed Below the Lights further down; I’m also on record as finding In Times anti-climactic, although I have to admit, knowing that Bjørnson holds it in such high regard makes me wanna give it a second (honestly, more like a twelfth) chance.
Of course, just because Bjørnson feels that this is the ranking order for Enslaved’s body work doesn’t mean you have to agree! Let’s hold a little poll right now: which albums is Enslaved’s best? Vote below! You can also, of course, feel free to share your complete list, in order, in the comments section.
