Metal-Themed Video Game “Coffee Crisis” Coming Soon to a Sega Genesis Near You
Mega Cat Studios is a company that makes new games for old consoles: NES, SNES, Genesis and Gameboy Advance. Actual cartridges that function on the original hardware. How cool is that?
Their latest title is called Coffee Crisis, a side-scroller for Sega Genesis that harks back to the quasi-3D view and gameplay of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, one of my all time favorites. The game is a collaboration with the Black Forge Coffee House in Pittsburgh, an independent, metal-themed coffee house / art gallery, and from the looks of the trailer it’s gonna be a whole lot of fun. The coffee theme and silly voiceover make it feel almost Ziltoid-ian in nature, and Pittsburgh metal band Greywalker provided some music for the game; this thing is metal through and through.
Watch the trailer below. “Coffee Crisis” comes out November 4th and can be pre-ordered here in a variety of high-quality, special edition formats. Those in the Pittsburgh area can attend an official launch party.
Anyone I know nearby got their Genesis hooked up? I’ve still got my original NES and you’re welcome to come over and play Mike Tyson’s Punchout anytime…
