Three years ago, Wetnurse and Today Is The Day drummer Curran Reynolds released the first album by his solo project Body Stuff, which Anso DF described as getting a second pizza after an already delicious pizza has been served to you (Anso continues to be the only great writer on this site). The first Body Stuff album was creepy, beautiful, inspiring, and an interesting example of the kinds of uncommon influences that can work in heavy music today.

Now, MetalSucks is proud to premiere “Cabin Song”, a new track from Body Stuff’s upcoming second album, Body Stuff 2. “Cabin Song” starts as a haunting, almost goth-ish post-rock tune that then opens up into a deluge of heavy riffs and sweaty, groaned vocals, along with a masterfully-placed “FEH!” in the middle. The song has a bizarre psychological element to it; when Reynolds sings about staying up late, you can feel the night moving on into the wee hours, and your sanity stretching thin accordingly.

All of which is to say, it’s a creepy, awesome track from an album that you should be watching out for. The record has one hell of a pedigree, too–it was recorded and mixed by Ryan Jones of Mutilation Rites and mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, Author & Punisher, Full Of Hell). And though Reynolds is a New York metal star, the music on the record was written in a cabin on a lake in Maine, which explains the songs theme and eerie atmosphere.
