Beyoncé Now Makes Slayer-inspired ‘Slayoncé’ Pins
At this point, we should just start a running ticker of all the mainstream celebrities (like Chris Brown, Zayn Malik, and Justin Bieber) and high-end fashion companies (Avalone, H&M, and Vetements) who bite off metal’s style in an attempt to have some sort of cred.
At the end of the day, we don’t lose sleep over it — people can wear what they want, some of these are funny, and if it gets one pop fan to listen to metal we’ve won — but it’s kind of fucking ridiculous at this point. As one of our commenters put it, we’ve got the cool and they’ve got the coin. They can’t think of their own cool stuff, so have to bite off ours.
The latest culprit? Beyoncé. According to Metal Insider, Queen Bey sold the following pins on her Formation tour, which now go for $40 on eBay:
Ah. I see what you did there.
What’s funny is that Slayer, as we also saw with Zayn Malik, have officially become THE extreme metal band to rip off for people who don’t really know metal. I guess it’s that jagged ‘S’ that really drives home the whole, See? Look! Edgy, right? kind of vibe.
What’s sad, however, is that Beyoncé went with such an obvious joke. Girl, here’s the pun you should’ve made:
You’re welcome.
