Steel Panther are Developing a Comedy Series About Themselves
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t impressed by Steel Panther… but since we got to spend some time with the band for this acoustic jam, and since then, I’m just, like, in total awe of them. Not are only are they brilliant, next-level musicians, but they’re also brilliant, next-level comedic actors. The way they effortlessly improvise and riff off one another and somehow never fail to be hilarious is really just amazing.
So I was THRILLED to read this on C21media.net (by way of Metal Insider):
“Canadian producer Media Ranch is developing a scripted comedy series about US comedy glam-rock band Steel Panther.
“The project comes out of an exclusive worldwide linear TV and digital rights deal signed by Media Ranch and the band.
“The series, which will be distributed globally by LA-based GRB Entertainment, will follow the sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll-fuelled lives of vocalist Michael Starr, lead guitarist Satchel, drummer Stix Zadinia and bassist Lexxxi Foxx.”
Oh my God, Steel Panther: The Series? Talk appointment television!
Although we have no idea when this will air… or if it will ever even make it to air… we do know this: if it does eventually become a really real thing, it will surely be the greatest television show since The Wire.
More as it becomes available.
