WSOU Picks of the Week: Crowbar, Obituary
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
Crowbar – “Falling While Rising” (Mike C.)
I really don’t think Crowbar know how to write a bad song. They just released the first single off of their upcoming album The Serpent Only Lies and it’s just as slow and heavy as you could hope for. If this song is any indicator, the rest of the album is going to be great! Can’t wait to see them when they’re around the NJ/NYC area in late September. The Serpent Only Lies comes out October 28 on eOne.
Obituary – “Loathe” (Garren L.)
Obituary perfected their death metal sound many years ago, and their new track “Loathe” is a perfect example. “Loathe” is slow and churning, paired with the haunting sound of John Tardy’s voice. This song is a perfect no-frills death metal track that demands that you headbang along. My only disappointment is that I have to wait another year until Obituary release another album.
