Islnds, Scale The Summit’s Chris Letchford’s New Solo Project, Has a New Song With Ashe O’Hara (ex-Tesseract) Called “Nghts”
Scale the Summit are an amazing band, Chris Letchford is a fantastic guitarist, and as a result there’s a lot to love about the idea of him starting a solo project. His new pursuit, called Islnds — we talked about his first a single “Crashing” a little while back — has released a new song called “Nghts,” which takes a page from Scale the Summit’s more laid back tracks, offering up a clean and melodic tune that features a lot of interesting time signature and tempo changes… all of which is par for the course for progressive metal bands these days.
The inclusion of vocalist Ashe O’Hara (ex-TesseracT) certainly adds another element to the composition. Considering Scale the Summit are instrumental it’s interesting to hear Chris’s music accompanied by vocals. While I’m not a huge fan of O’Hara’s style, I must admit it fits relatively well.
I’m left feeling lukewarm on this so far, but I remain positive about the album regardless. Who knows, maybe this one will grow on me.
Islnds’ debut album, A History of Robots, is out 9/21 and can be purchased here.
