Saturday To Scorch Tundras And Empty Bottles In The Windy City
Whether you are living the high life enjoying the city’s finest views from Bruce Wayne’s 47th floor penthouse terrace or eating the Zeppelin burger at the delicious yet digestively deadly Kuma’s Corner, Chicago has many splendors to behold and exciting activities to imbibe.
It’s no secret that the music scene there is stellar, and in a couple of weeks the seminal venue The Empty Bottle will host the 6th edition of the perpetually excellent Scorched Tundra festival which will offer some of the finest sludge/doom/post-metal your unsuspecting ears could ever hope to ingest.
The fest has been held in Gothenburg, Sweden for the past five years but for the first time our beguiling USofA is getting a chance to play home country and the lineup aptly reflects the geographical shift, showcasing primarily American acts such as Chicago’s own Bongripper and The Atlas Moth. In fact, the only European band on the bill this time around is Sweden’s mighty Monolord, who will undoubtedly represent their continent aplenty and rip the audience a collective new one.
Needless to say, if you are in the Chicago area when this festival is happening (9/2 & 9/3), BE THERE.
