Here’s KEN mode Covering Helmet To Punch Your Day In The Neck
So long, Trouble/Sleep-inspired stoner doom: hardcore-influenced ’90s hard rock appears to be the next genre that everyone wants to pay homage to, if all these bands like Family and Wrong are any indication (the stoner stuff was always a little too soft around the edges anyway). And what better way to usher in this era than with a tribute to Helmet, kings of that genre?
The album, Meantime [Redux], a tribute to the band’s classic second album, drops September 16th via Magnetic Eye (pre-order here), and features covers by Meek Is Murder, Kings Destroy, Fuck The Facts and more. One is a rendition of “Turned Out” by our good buddies in KEN mode, and it absolutely rips. The band gets Helmet’s original big-riff wonkiness but adds their own unique brand of scathing rage and hostility.
Listen to “Turned Out” below and try not to destroy every lamp in the room.
