Today in Pantera: Video of a Dimebag Street Puppet Performance (Yay!), and David Draiman + Breaking Benjamin Cover “Walk” (Ugh!)

Ya got the good, and ya got the bad.

First up, something to warm your cockles: the following video of a puppet version of Dimebag Darrell (or some amalgam of metal guitarists) playing Pantera’s “The Art of Shredding” made the rounds over the weekend, racking up over 5 million views to date. The Santiago, Chile-based puppeteer, Bullicio Puppets, also covers Megadeth, Pink Floyd on other bands in videos on his Facebook page — so check out that link. We’re especially digging the “pyro” — well done, sir!

Now for the piss in your Cheerios: Breaking Benjamin invited Disturbed’s David Draiman on stage to cover Pantera’s “Walk” at the two bands’ tour stop in Dallas this past Friday night. “Walk” has become the go-to mosh anthem for knuckle-dragging ‘Murican bros in the years since Dime’s death, which is really a shame, and the audience seems to be eating it up here so… yeah, this is a thing that happened. Sorry, everyone, we know this isn’t what you’re trying to hear this morning.

But then again: that puppet video! Yeah!
