WSOU Picks of the Week: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Thank You Scientist
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
The Dillinger Escape Plan – “Limerent Death” (Mike C.)
Hell yeah, new Dillinger! “Limerent Death” is the first single off their upcoming album Dissociation and it’s just as batshit insane as you could hope! It’s technical and anthemic at the same time, and I can easily see this song becoming a staple in their live show. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album on October 14 and to see this song live in a couple weeks at GWAR B-Q!
Thank You Scientist – “The Amateur Arsonist’s Handbook” (Grant P.)
Thank You Scientist’s “The Amateur Arsonist’s Handbook” was the second single to come before their album dropped last Friday. It featured the same trumpets, vocals, and upbeat tempo that fans of the band have always loved. It features more singing than the first single, “Blue Automatic” which provides a promising possibility of some lyric-heavy tracks on the album. The band visited the WSOU studio last Monday for a live interview and acoustic set, and they are a wacky group that seems to be able to have fun together at all times, wherever they are.
