Enjoy These Awesome Videos of 1,000 Musicians Covering Bowie, Nirvana, White Stripes
Last year, Rockin’ 1000 decided it would be an awesome idea to gather 1,000 musicians together in Italy to do a cover of the Foo Fighters classic “Learn to Fly.” Along the way, they managed to set a few records and create an event that turned out to be very special. So this year, they upped the ante by doing three covers of even more beloved hits, including Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel,” and The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”
There are three videos below, only one of which is professionally shot, but they all look like loads of fun. There’s something mesmerizing about watching rows of drummers hammer out the beat to “Rebel Rebel” in unison while hundreds of guitarists jump up and down, bob their heads, or do whatever crazy thing comes to mind. The vocalists look like they’re having a blast, too, huddled around their microphones like some ’50s doo-wop group. I can’t imagine the thrill that must come with being a part of an event like this. This should be everywhere. Come on, Rockin’ 1,000, let’s get this happening worldwide.
