Exclusive Album Stream: Hammers of Misfortune, Dead Revolution
If you like good prog metal you’ll like Hammers of Misfortune. It’s really that simple.
The San Francisco outfit has been cranking out albums since 2001, quietly but steadily amassing a following of music-lovers who take their prog metal without any regard for trends. Hammers of Misfortune represent a panoply of metal in that way; their foundation may be some kind of hybrid of the classic prog metal of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, but their music still sounds unmistakably modern, both in influence and production. Riffs thrash as hard as Metallica’s earlier material, beats swing like Priest, the guitars sound as thick and chunky as Lamb of God and the keyboards at times sound like the friggin’ Doors. How’s that for a melting pot? Hammers of Misfortune are all over the place in the best way possible; no one sounds like them, and they sound like no one.
Dead Revolution comes out today via Metal Blade and can be ordered here. Stream it in full below.
