Exclusive Video Premiere: Islander, “Think it Over” (feat. H.R. of Bad Brains)
You can be forgiven, MetalSucks reader, if you’re not yet familiar with Islander. More than most of what we cover, Islander are immersed in the world of radio, and not you’re not likely to see them on tour with, say, Behemoth or Cannibal Corpse.
But, as we discovered when we gave the band a chance a couple of years back, they write solid, catchy, well-thought out hard rock that doesn’t suck. And they’re certainly heavy enough. They’re one of the good guys in a world full of Breaking Suckjamins, that’s for sure.
And their latest track, “Think It Over,” is no different. It’s got a propulsive, punk rock attitude that vaguely harks back to ’90s metal/hardcore heroes like Helmet and Quicksand, and they’ve tapped legendary Bad Brains singer H.R. to lend his vocals to the track. It’s catchy as hell, and you’re gonna like it: we promise.
Frontman Mikey Carvajal explains of the track:
“Think It Over” is a rally cry anthem to encourage the youth of today to think about their lives and to make good decisions. We are all born with a type of youthful wildness that if we allow to be tamed, will flourish into harnessed power rather than wasted energy. The idea is to be like a saddled horse instead of a frustrated stallion. To have Power Under Control.
Power Under Control comes out on August 5th via Victory Records; pre-order here. Catch them on tour all summer; dates below.
