Exclusive Video Premiere: Byzantine, “Justinian Code”
Now that they’ve signed a fresh record deal with Metal Blade Records, Byzantine are hard at work on writing and recording their next album. One minute of recording footage that frontman Chris “OJ” Ojeda posted last month certainly seems hella promising… as if there’s any doubt in the world that The Byz are going to deliver an absolute banger of a record.
In the meantime, the West Virginians have given us a music video for the 8-minute epic “Justinian Code” — from last year’s To Release is to Resolve — to hold us over. It’s a rehearsal studio clip with plenty of shots of the band members doing their thing up close, which is especially notable for new drummer Matt Bowles, who replaced longtime drummer Matt Wolfe after the latter’s departure last year.
While the audio in this clip is the album version, not live, Byzantine sound EVERY bit as tight as this live… it’s fucking remarkable! So if you live in any of the cities listed below, make sure you go and see them this summer.
