Authorities: Nick Menza’s Death Was Not a Result of Drugs

Whenever a musician dies suddenly and at far too young an age, pretty much everyone in the world assumes that musician’s death was drug-related. Which is an understandable assumption, given how many musicians have died suddenly and at a young age as a result of drugs.

So, consider this a small comfort: TMZ claims that according to their sources in law enforcement, the recent, untimely death of former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza was not drug-related. An autopsy shows that Menza, who a friend asserts was sober for eight years at the time of his death, was suffering from heart disease.

Like I said, a small comfort. I also think it’s worth considering that the heart disease could easily have been caused and/or exacerbated by an unhealthy lifestyle.
