Video Footage of Megadeth Playing with Soilwork Drummer Dirk Verbeuren
No drummer? No problem! With Chris Adler tied up playing for Lamb of God at the moment, Dave Mustaine tapped Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren — a man whose skills behind the kit we’ve long praised on this site — to handle the skins for Megadeth on their upcoming tour through the end of June. For Mustaine, he gets a reliable skinsman who’s more than capable of handling ‘Deth’s drum parts (he probably knew them by heart before even getting the call), and for Verbeuren it probably feels like heavy metal fantasy summer camp.
Megadeth’s first show with Verbeuren took place this past weekend at Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH. There’s a ton of fan-filmed cell phone footage of the occasion, and while most of it doesn’t focus on Verbeuren it certainly SOUNDS like he’s doing a fine job (as if we doubted he wouldn’t). There is also this clip, which has a pretty good view of Verbeuren, who looks like he’s having the time of his life:
Here are some more clips of the performance with Verbeuren on drums. Dirk will resume his duties with Soilwork on June 26th in Italy to begin the band’s summer tour, and he’ll be pulling double duty with both bands at Graspop in Belgium the week prior.
