Listen to Despised Icon’s First New Song in Seven Years, “Beast”
Deathcore pioneers Despised Icon will release one of the most anticipated reunion records of 2016; after announcing in 2010 that they were done, they started playing “reunion” shows in 2014, and earlier this year they announced a whole slew of shows for 2016 and a new album before the year is done. Nearly two years in the making, finally we get a taste of what the new record will sound like with “Beast,” the title track of the album.
And it’s pretty much as good as you’d expect! Judging by this pro-shot footage of the band slaying Texas Independence Fest last month the band hasn’t lost anything at all in the live realm, and thankfully the same is true of their recorded output. “Beast” offers everything you’d want from new Despised Icon; the fast, the slow, the gutturals, the shouts, and yep, the brutal, brutal slams.
Beast will be released on July 22nd via Nuclear Blast.
