Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Arrested Mid-Concert
Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin just doesn’t know when to stop and get help. Over the course of 2016, the dude stopped a concert to rant drunkenly at a fan he claims stole his house, got abandoned by his entire band onstage, and was arrested during an armed police standoff. You’d figure after all that, the dude would take a moment to stop performing and get help, right?
Wrong. According to a piece by our own Brian Storm at Rockfeed, Scantlin was arrested backstage during a Puddle of Mudd show in Hermosa Beach, CA, last night. The band was about to perform an encore when bail bondsman grabbed him and put him in handcuffs. You can watch a video provided by TMZ below.
The reason for Wes’ arrests? He skipped out on bail, presumably for the whole armed standoff thing, which resulted in a judge upping his bail to $250,000 and issuing a warrant for his arrest.
At this point, Scantlin’s legal troubles aren’t even funny, they’re just ridiculous. Unless the dude is an Andy Kaufman-esque performance artist, he’s showing time and time again that he’s in serious trouble.
So I’m finally going to echo Storm on this one: Wes, go get help. Stop performing until you get help. To anyone in or working with Puddle of Mudd, do not allow this dude to perform until he sorts his shit out. Hire a new singer if you’re worried about your own livelihood. But at this point, all of this is just sad.
