Stream Perturbator’s Demo of “VERS/US” from the Uncanny Valley Bonus EP
As predicted, Perturbator’s The Uncanny Valley is well into the process of fucking our collectives faces off. Debut single “Neo Tokyo” went hard as fuck and reminded us why we love dark synthwave, while “Sentient” and its gloriously pixelated music video showcased the French artiste’s softer side.
Now Bloody Disgusting is hosting an unfinished demo version of “VERS/US,” another hard-edged track, this one deemed not worthy of making the final cut for inclusion on The Uncanny Valley. It does appear on a bonus EP that comes with special editions of the album, though, so big-time ‘Bator fans can still own it. Here’s record label Blood Music on why it didn’t land on the record proper:
As the album writing came to a close, Perturbator realized this song didn’t quite fit in with the themes of the main album. The song was left in a more ‘rough-stage’ and was included in the bonus EP to give a sense of what Perturbator’s writing process is like.
Pretty cool — while parts of this track sound album-ready, other parts are clearly unfinished; transitions that don’t quite flow well, segments with sparse instrumentation, etc. I’d love to be a fly on a wall watching The Pert Man labor over his tracks, but this is probably the closest I’ll ever get.
The Uncanny Valley comes out May 6th. You can pre-order your copy right here.
