Oni Take the Form of Your Darkest Nightmare
Awwwww yeahhhhh it’s Friday. And you all know what that means! Boozeman gets to take a nap earlier than 7 p.m. today!
But if that doesn’t excite you, then this track from Oni will! “Eternal Recurrence” takes after the name of the band itself. In Japanese folklore, the oni is a shapeshifting demon that uses its different forms to help spread suffering and sorrow, and “Eternal Recurrence” has a sound that’s a hybrid of your typical death metal — some clean vocals and even a Children of Bodom-style keyboard solo. It’s a sort of musical shapeshifting.
Oni make me think of what Bodom would sound like if they were a progressive act, just with more clean vocals and less Alexi Laiho YOW YOW noises. Check out the song below and if you dig the track you can see Oni on tour right now, read RIGHT NOW, with Devil You Know. Maybe it’s just me but I think the concept for the tour is great. The devil touring around with a Japanese shapeshifting demon? Sign me right the fuck up. Give them a follow on Facebook and get you some tour dates below the song.
