Unsigned and Unholy: Gravelord Command an Army of the Dead

In the dead of night where the corpses sleep, deep below the rotting crypts of the dead, he slumbers. He sleeps until the day the maw of Hell cracks wide the ground to bring an army of undead to vanquish all mortal life. He is the Gravelord.

Gravelord hail from Kansas City, Missouri, and I had the pleasure of seeing them live at their very first show at the Riot Room, which they absolutely crushed. Gravelord remind me of Aborted a great deal, but with the intensity turned down just a bit so it doesn’t ever get grating. It’s fast-paced death metal with some pretty refreshing riffage and unexpectedly clear vocals.Their bass player, Josh Tandy, also plays guitar in fellow Kansas City act Conflicts, who released their second album in March.

As the Boozeman, I’ve slain plenty of beers with vocalist Paul Howell and guitarist Jake Caldwell, and I can say that not only do they make some ridiculously brutal music but also that they’re some of the coolest dudes I’ve ever met. I love these dudes to death so check out their music and give them a follow on Facebook.

You can expect a five song EP called Vessel of Innards by September and you can all bet your asses that I’ll let you know when it drops.
