MetalSucks is Dead, Long Live MetalSucks

To Our Beloved MetalSucks Suckalos,

We — “we” being Axl and Vince — are going to be blunt with you: after ten years of doing MetalSucks, we are, as they say, over it. The thrill is gone. It’s not that we don’t love metal anymore, and we didn’t have a falling out or anything crazy like that. We’re just pooped. It’s hard to generate this much content day after day, and it’s hard to think of the umpteenth synonym for “brutal,” “heavy,” “aggressive,” “awesome,” etc.

So earlier this year, after having some intense internal deliberations, we started looking for a buyer. Someone who could take the reins and keep MetalSucks going, but who wasn’t nearly so jaded as we.

We found that buyer in Complex, with whom you may be familiar from their wide variety of other websites. We’re not going to lie — we were very nicely compensated for the sale. That being said, we also feel confident that Complex “gets” MetalSucks, and will help make the site suckier than ever.

Your new editor-in-chiefs begin tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow. We’re bad with goodbyes. We didn’t wanna get all teary and shit. That’s not our style. Leave ’em wanting more, right?

(And fret not: the rest of the MS staff will still be here for the foreseeable future.)

On that note: thanks to all of our loyal readers for your years of support — even if you hate us, well, we appreciate you reading! Thanks to all the musicians and industry folk who helped us out along the way and (usually) had a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing.

What else is there to say? We will always love you. See you at the bar.
