Fan Who Got Chewed Out for Texting at a Disturbed Show Makes it Official: David Draiman is an Asshole

TWO Disturbed stories in one day? What did we do to be so lucky???

So… remember that poor lady who David Draiman chewed out recently for daring to text during a Disturbed show? Well, The Dallas Observer reports that her name is Shannon Pardue (above, with her husband at the concert before the incident). And that when Draiman asked her “So what is so important going on in the world that you need to be texting the entire fucking show?”, the answer was, “The well being of my fucking daughter”:

“Despite what Draiman announced during the show, Pardue claims that she wasn’t texting the entire show. Like other fans, she’d taken pictures, posted a status update and even rocked out with other fans by raising her fist in the air.

“She didn’t even start texting her 14-year-old daughter — who was at home in the middle of a nasty hail storm — until after the show was over, she says, and the band had already left the stage. As the crowd began chanting ‘one more song,’ Pardue began texting with her daughter, who had just returned home from youth night at their church with thunderstorms ravaging the area.”

Pardue compares the experience of being singled out by Draiman to being the “dorky kid” in a movie “standing there [with] 20 bullies are making fun of him, making him feel alienated.” She goes on to point out that “Rock stars wouldn’t be where they are without people who come to pay for the show” before vowing, “I’ll never pay to see him again nor will my friends.” So at least something good came out of this miserable experience.

Of course, Disturbed’s career will go on even without the money of Pardue and her friends. Still, hopefully Draiman will do the right thing and apologize and maybe even send her a nice goodie bag. Y’know, something with a bunch of cool swag in it from a band that isn’t Disturbed. I’m sure Draiman’s record label can send her something from one of the band’s more talented label mates. Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold, Bette Midler. Someone like that.
