Exclusive Track Premiere: “Writhe” by Weekend Nachos
A famous philosopher once advised, “Don’t go away mad, just go away.” Lucky for all of us, though, the Chicago powerviolence quartet Weekend Nachos did not take that advice: their farewell album, the wryly titled Apology, sees the band “go out on a storm of hatred,” as press materials accurately put it. Weekend Nachos aren’t letting the door hit them on the ass as they leave — they’re ripping the door off the hinges and hitting you in the ass with it.
Case in point: “Writhe,” the Apology track MetalSucks is only too happy to be debuting today. It is an ugly, unpleasant, snarling, pitiless two minutes, a savage song seemingly designed to prove that music can be manslaughter. Good Satan in Hell below, we are going to miss this band like it was one of our limbs.
Says the band of Apology:
“Honestly, it’s a really really good record. I was nervous the whole time we were writing it, because it was like ‘This is it… this is our swansong. I hope we aren’t scraping the bottom of the barrel here.’ Truth is, we did scrape the bottom of the barrel, and it was the very last of the great material we’re capable of.”
Do yourself a favor and check out “Writhe” below! Apology comes out May 20 on Relapse. You can pre-order it here (digital) or here (physical). And at the bottom of the post, find a list of Weekend Nachos’ final-ever performances! At least one show (in their hometown) will be added to the itinerary, so make sure you keep up with the band on Facebook, too.
