Exclusive: Ruby the Hatchet Perform “Holy Father” Live In-Studio
Not too many bands care about vibe these days — so in a music culture dominated by instantly-recognizable and marketable imagery, a band like Ruby the Hatchet stand out. I didn’t know what to make of the band when I first heard their music, but the more I’ve come to learn about them and their influences, the deeper their music has become for me.
The thing about Ruby’s vibe is that it’s all about the live performance — hearing the whirr of Sean Hur’s Leslie, the hum of the amplifiers, and (ideally) a lite smoke machine. So I met up with the band at the Gibson New York Showroom to shoot some performance videos, the first of which is for “Holy Father,” off the band’s 2012 debut Ouroboros, which is seeing a re-release on vinyl on April 29th.
