WSOU Picks of the Week: Skeletonwitch, Primitive Weapons, and Silver Snakes
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
Skeletonwitch – “Well of Despair” (Mike C.)
Ohio’s Skeletonwitch are back with their new single “Well of Despair,” their first release with new vocalist Adam Clemans. Clemans’ voice brings a slightly different, but still exciting approach to their blackened thrash sound. Instrumentally, it sounds like traditional Skeletonwitch, which isn’t a bad thing by any means! I’ll definitely be checking them out on their tour with Abbath, High on Fire, and Tribulation.
Primitive Weapons – “The Electric Drama” (Rohit R)
I’m a sucker for bands that can combine hardcore with melody and talented instrumental parts, and Primitive Weapons are just that. It is probably impossible to not want to mosh the second you hear the song kick in, and ever since they started their new music rotation here at WSOU, they have really climbed up the charts and have a lot of people calling in asking who they are.

Silver Snakes – “Red Wolf” (Grant P.)
Silver Snakes deliver an awesome heavy rock hit with “Red Wolf.” They opened for Coheed & Cambria a few weeks ago at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, and their great stage presence compelled me to check out the rest of their new album, Saboteur. It’s a great bridge for people who are looking to expand into metal from hard rock, or just for those who are looking for a new album to check out.
