Here are Some of the Best Metal Releases Coming on Record Store Day 2016
It’s time once again for Record Store Day. On April 16, we celebrate a day where people remember that you couldn’t always buy or steal music on the internet. It’s a day where bands return to their roots and put out limited releases of music that you can only buy at brick and mortar stores. It’s a day where, when we buy said music, we all turn into pretentious hipsters for 15 minutes to show off how much we supported independent music retail on social media by posting pictures of our vinyl haul.
Humor aside, Record Store Day is pretty great. We get cool, exclusive tunes, and we leave our homes to actually buy music, which some fans also refer to as “supporting their favorite artists.” There are some pretty cool releases scheduled in the metal world, but here are some of the most enticing:
Anthrax – “In The End“/”Antisocial” (7″) (Megaforce)
Limited to 1500 copies.
Death – “Vivus! : Dividium Live In Eindhoven” (Relapse)
Limited to 1000 copies.
Gwar – “Scumdogs Of The Universe” (2xLP pop up album art) (Metal Blade)
Limited to 3000 copies.
Rob Zombie – “Well, Everybody’s Fucking In A U.F.O.” (10″) (UMe)
Featuring reverse groove playback, backed with “Super-Doom-Hex-Gloom Part One“. Etching on b-side. Limited to 5500 copies.
It should be noted that the Rob Zombie release comes complete with an album cover that is guaranteed to offend anyone who has never heard music with a distortion pedal and anyone who hasn’t ever seen a penis. You can check that out here and see the rest of the metal Record Store Day listings over at The PRP.
