Fear, Emptiness, Decibel: Listen to Tribulation Cover the Misfits
Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…
Tribulation are sure hard to pin down. The Swedes burst into national prominence with ripping OSDM savagery on 2009 full-length debut The Horror, went on to refine a more elegant progressive death metal approach on 2013’s The Formulas of Death and 2015’s The Children of the Night (both placing in Decibel’s annual Top 40 Albums of the Year list), and now, of all bands, they’re covering the Misfits for the Decibel Flexi Series!
In just under a month, of course, you can start catching them as main support on the 2016 Decibel Tour. We’ve been lucky enough to have a touring band contribute a flexi for all five years of the tour’s existence, and now Tribulation join the likes of In Solitude, Cannibal Corpse, Noisem and Pallbearer with not one, but two iconic Misfits covers from the A-side of 1983’s Earth A.D./Wolf’s Blood: “Devilock” and “Death Comes Ripping.” Both were recorded in late December when the band had two weeks off between U.S. and European tours, and we sure hope they’re willing to unleash these ragers on ours. Give a spin below, and pick up the real thing in the April issue.
The April 2016 issue of Decibel can be purchased , and also features Megadeth, Carcass, and Fates Warning. But if you don’t just get a full subscription, you may face many tribulations in your future.
