Geezer Butler Apologized to Bill Ward on Twitter
You gotta hand it to Geezer Butler–the guy’s been getting out in front of things lately. Yesterday, we posted that the Black Sabbath bassist had announced he wouldn’t be against recording another album, despite what Tony Iommi said. And then, he went ahead an publicly apologized to Bill Ward for not being offered a chance to drum at Black Sabbath’s last show.
Butler posted the following on Twitter:
It appears Bill Ward was never invited to do a last show – my mistake. Sorry @billwarddrums

This warms the cockles of my heart. Sure, a Twitter post isn’t exactly a heartfelt serenade on the veranda, but it’s more than I see Ozzy or Iommi doing. More so, it’s Butler publicly acknowledging that Ward wasn’t offered the chance to play, thereby a) dispelling the ‘It’s his health we’re worried about’ rumors, and b) shutting down some of the Bill Ward naysayers who claim he just whines about everything (among whose ranks even I’ve been found in the past).
Anyway, while this is a nice gesture, we’ll see if it comes to anything, but something tells me it won’t. Blood’s just too bad, and anyway, there’s Sharon to think about.
