Exclusive Premiere: Rotting Christ, “Του Θάνατου” (Tou Thanatou)
We already know what we think about Rotting Christ’s forthcoming album Rituals based on the three songs we’ve heard so far; it fucking rips, every bit the worthy successor of 2012’s Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy, which itself may have been the long-running Greek band’s best work yet.
So dive in even further with “Του Θάνατου” (Tou Thanatou), premiering exclusively on MetalSucks today. The song’s got all the hallmarks of what make a modern Rotting Christ track so great: a propulsive, unstoppable rhythm, galloping riffs, immediate melodies and an epic, chanted chorus. As a bonus, the guitar solo on this one is extra tasty, too. Those hoping for a return to the band’s early blackened roots will probably be disappointed, but we ask that you enter with open ears: we think the band is even better this way. It’s remarkable that they’re pumping out some of their best work some 30 years into their career.
Rituals come out on February 12th via Season of Mist. Order it here.
